Wood carving by Mario Sanchez depicting Pillo Santiago's Fishermen's Cafe located on the waterfront on the corner of Margaret and Caroline Streets. A sponging boat passing by in the background. The shack was moved to Front Street near Mallory Square in the 1990s. Two pieces of wood bolted together. Mario Sanchez described the cafe, 'A very popular place, where good food was served and where the gossip of the day was in order. On the sidewalk and sitting on the bench are popular Key West people. Before the Fishermen's Cafe it was Teddy Knowles Ice Cream Parlor, where old-fashioned tropical fruit sherbet was served and where they gave you "a plenty" for only ten cents.'
